jacqueline bos

Jacqueline Bos' book Gathering
I have been inspired by Jacqueline's book Gathering. I found out about it at Working Proof. With our personal identity project, we have to think about a relevant way of displaying our collection and I thought it would be really good to produce a little book like this about the work I do that will be inspired by my collection.

self promotion work for rob lowe visit

only lucy 3 by only lucy

I took the opportunity to try to get to grips with photoshop, and used some printed textures and hand drawn text as a starting point.

rob lowe aka supermundane

We are really lucky to have Rob Lowe of Supermandane coming to speak to us this week. He has some great graphic and typographic work, so I am really looking forward to meeting him.

We have to do a 3 hour project, some sort of self promotion using our names and illustration.
It has to be an A5 postcard and we need to think about the composition on the paper and whether the lettering is the illustration, forms part of the illustration or is separate. Rob said that he thinks the key is to think of the letterforms in the same way as we would anything else we draw and not be intimidated because its lettering.

So I had a quick play with some hand drawn lettering and some print textures I have had lying around. Thankfully I still have some time left to develop it.

This little fox will appear in a slightly different form in a piece of work I am doing for my personal identity/collections module. All will soon become clear!

lisa congdon and a collection a day

by Lisa Congdon
I have come across the work of the very talented Lisa Congdon in so many blogs but I am mentioning her today for her fantastic "A Collection a Day" project.  We are starting a new module at college soon about developing you personal identity and one of the tasks is to use something(s) you collect as a starting point.  I just thought that Lisa's lovely book is a great way to get inspired.
